Julia Roberts Lists Hawaii Property For $29.8 Million

The six-bedroom property on Weke Road in Hanalei Bay might not be the most fancy one in town, but it is fit for a pretty woman – Julia Roberts, to be exact. Now, it is on the market and can be yours for $29.8 million.
Julia Roberts and Danny Moder purchased it in 2011 for about $14 million. The home looks simple on the outside, but let's be honest: This is Hawaii, and the natural beauty will always upstage the architecture. A tidal wave literally carved out 200 feet of private beach in the back of the property after the wall of water knocked down the bottom structure of the property, but left the top intact. So if you end up buying the property, you'll get a vast backyard where you can kick back in the shaded hammock hung between palm trees, play sports or run right to the beach. Sweet!

In fact, the house on Weke Road has history – the original owner was an executive at a nearby sugar plantation, and built the house in 1915. All of the bedrooms in the main house have inviting views of the backyard and the beach at Hanalei Bay. It also has an updated kitchen and multiple living rooms for entertaining. The property is also just a block and a half from the heart of Hanalei town, so restaurants and shopping are all within a very short distance. And since this is Hawaii, activities abound that take full advantage of the archipelago's natural, inviting beauty: hiking, boating, sailing, surfing and beach life.
The guesthouse has one bedroom and one bathroom, but lots of living space and privacy, too. So if visitors sleep over in the future, but aren't ready to hit the sack at the same time as their hosts, their late night chats won't keep the hosts awake. That's probably good to know, after a day of snorkeling, diving and touring volcanos.
